We are proud members of More:Trees Eco

Since we incorporated in 2009 we have always been tuned into the importance of our corporate responsibility when it comes to being kind to our planet. Whilst our main job is to balance the books for our client, we also make a conscious effort to balance our carbon footprint. This is why KRW are always striving to do more to improve the sustainability of our practice.

Sustainability

We are working with our clients to find ways to ditch the paperwork, and ultimately plant more trees than we are causing to be cut down. The more clients we can get to digitalise not only their accounting records, but also their internal systems, the great the sustainability of our firm and our industry will become. We are committed to working with all our clients to achieve a greater level of sustainability both here at KRW, and within their own companies.

Carbon footprint

An accountancy firm is by no means top of the offenders list when it comes to carbon footprints, however, that hasn’t stopped us from doing our bit to minimise, and eventually neutralising our carbon footprint. Everything from paperless files, to electronic signing ensure our carbon footprint is as minimal as possible, and our team are pretty well drilled when I comes to recycling too!

Planting trees for our business and our clients and employees

We are becoming a greener brand by planting trees and contributing to the UN’s SDGs to show our customers we care by sequestering carbon on their behalf. From July 2022 we are therefore committed to planting a tree for every new client that joins KRW, as well as planting additional trees on a monthly basis to make up for lost time!

We didn’t want our team feeling left out, so we have planted a tree for each member of our team, and extra one on each of their birthdays (as well as giving them the day off!) every year going forward.

What is Carbon Sequestration?

Carbon sequestration is the process of capturing gaseous and atmospheric carbon dioxide and storing it in a solid or liquid form. Trees sequester carbon naturally by absorbing carbon dioxide and converting it into biomass. Technological carbon dioxide removal seeks to offset the human release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions, which come from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas.

28T

Since the mid-1990s, we’ve lost around 28 trillion tonnes of ice, with today’s melt rate standing at 1.2 trillion tonnes a year. To help you put that into perspective, the combined weight of all human-made things is 1.1 trillion tonnes. That’s about the same weight as all living things on earth.

50%

Scientists estimate dozens of species of plants and animals currently go extinct each day — nearly 1,000 times the natural rate. By mid-century, as many as 50 percent of the total species found on Earth will have disappeared.

2030

According to a report conducted by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), climate change could be irreversible by 2030.  Without change, the world’s coral reefs could be completely eradicated, and we could see an increase in widespread flooding, extreme heat, drought and poverty.
